Several of you have asked how they could be a part of our marriage study in our group if they can't attend on Sundays. I have reopened the class blog so feel free to follow along! Remember, the advice and words are usually worth what you pay for them - and this is completely free...
I talk to so many people who say things like "I just don't love here anymore", "We just don't love each other like we once did". Why this struggle? I think if we are all honest, there are times when our "love" or more specifically, our feelings for our spouses fluctuates. How can this be? What about this "for better or worse" stuff? How can some couples break almost insurmountable odds and have great marriages while so many marriages are ending in divorce or have no life to them?
True love isn't determined by the one being loved, but rather by the one choosing to love. You are in complete control of your ability to love your spouse. This type of love is not a mere emotion, but rather a verb that you must choose to live out. When your spouse is annoying - love them! When your spouse nags - Love them! When your spouse is unlovable - Love them!
This type of "unconditional" love seems impossible....but as usual our example for this love is seen in this verse - I John 4:19 We love because He first loved us.
Love your spouse....then love them more...
